Being Female: Celebrating Women’s History Month!

The Center for the Arts of Homer has partnered with Being Female: Art As Empowerment and Jess Novak’s F.I.R.E. Festival to bring a full weekend of events to Homer, NY celebrating women in the arts!

Being Female: Art as Empowerment is centered around encouraging and showcasing women in the arts in Cortland and contiguous counties in New York State. Our mission is to reduce and eliminate the disparities and discrimination against being female in our culture and in the arts. Through our blog, we aim to highlight the achievements and creativity of women in the arts and provide a platform for their voices to be heard. Join us in celebrating the power of female artistry.

Now celebrating its first time in Homer, but its third time occurring, the idea of F.I.R.E. is to promote women in music, art, and business by filling venues with female creators. While many festivals boast all-male lineups with cover-centric headliners, F.I.R.E. will feature women playing original music and a huge span of vendors and artists. Visual artists, dancers, creators, business owners and musicians will span genres and ages, providing a wide variety of talent.
